Looking for an engaging, differentiated, and challenging project based learning task to enrich your students? This is a perfect math challenge for students who need a challenge or enrichment, and they'll love getting to plan a day at the fair or carnival!


Students will love getting to work within a budget to plan a day at the fair for them and their friends. You'll love the enriched math practice they get along the way! Students will practice addition and subtraction while learning to work within a budget. They'll finish the project by designing a brand new ride for the park!

This includes both PRINTABLE and DIGITAL versions for Google Slides.


Teacher Tips and Instructions

Engaging Letter: Get students excited about this project by putting the letter in an envelope and ripping it open along with students!

Brainstorming Page: Brainstorming sheet for students to think about what makes a great day at the fair or carnival

•Planning Menus: These menus displays the prices for tickets, rides, games and food - there are differentiated options included, and an editable version as well.

Planning Sheets: Differentiated planning sheets are included. Students will calculate the total they've spent and adjust their purchases to fit within a budget. They need to follow certain guidelines.

Reflection Questions: Reflection pages are included. Students will answer questions about what it was like working with a budget and what they might do differently next time.

Write a Letter: Students will write a letter to you, their teacher, outlining the day at the carnival they planned

A Brand New Ride: Students will design a brand new ride for the carnival - they'll sketch it, name it, come up with a slogan, etc.
